Gail Britt - Studio 208

@gailebritt

Professionally my career path began at BBC, painting scenery backcloths and making props. Later l illustrated Books of Remembrance displayed in Chapels of Rest. From monumental
scale to miniatures, my creative experience is as diverse as the evolving contemporary practice that now emerges.

Born in Birmingham, a nomadic life leads me to Rye where my ancestors resided in 1800s and who were boatbuilders, sea captains, coastguards, sailmakers, plus the first harbourmaster
of Rye. The painting 'Last of the sailmakers' pays homage to Samuel Britt in 1900, whose sail loft remains a five minute walk from my studio here at Rye Creative Centre.
