‘Spring Garden in Blue’
With thirty years’ experience designing fabrics and wallpapers for the world’s most renowned editors, Richard Smith has created his own luxurious collection - Madeaux.
Working in his studio overlooking the English Channel in East Sussex, Richard creates beguiling and covetable printed, embroidered and woven fabrics.
Each fabric has its origin in artwork hand-painted by Richard and influenced by historic textiles, the Sussex landscape and the classic English home.
Many are created by hand and the collection has a unique quality, combining refined luxury and understated chic.
Bed dressed in Lucia, loosely based on seventeenth century crewelwork embroidery, with Rattan Grasscloth wallpaper. Both from the Spring 2021 collection.
Spring Garden in Blue. A bouquet of flowers gathered from the garden - Tulips, Anenome, Rhododendron and Fern were all painted in watercolour and arranged in a classic floral layout.
