Clay Modelling from Life with Steph Rubin

Have you ever wanted to capture someone’s face in a sculpture? Working a portrait in clay from a life model is a really rewarding experience. This six-week course is suitable for those with experience of sculpting in clay and those who are completely new to it.

During this six-week course, you will learn;
- how to examine the head from all angles
- how to use an armature
- how to model in clay using comparative measuring with callipers and by eye using tools, blocks and fingers.

You have the choice of modelling a relief, a portrait or a small figure/maquette in clay we can talk about this when you start on the day.

Sessions are tutored with demonstrations of techniques and Steph also gives individual feedback.

Materials are included and Steph provides refreshments for the morning break at 11.20-11.45am

Minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 8 in these sessions.

Firing can be arranged at an additional cost of £25 if required

About the tutor:
Stephanie Rubin is a sculptor based in Rye. She has worked as a commercial sculptor for 30 years since studying at City and Guilds of London Art School from 1989-1993 and holds a BA in Fine Art Sculpture. Stephanie is an experienced teacher with a City and Guilds qualification.
