Techniques Supported
Our Print Room supports a variety of printmaking techniques, each offering unique artistic possibilities:
Monoprinting: Create one-of-a-kind prints with the freedom to experiment with textures, colours, and compositions. Use our presses and tools to explore additive and subtractive methods, as well as direct painting on plates and adding successive printed layers to build up your image.
Dry Point Etching: Produce prints with rich velvety lines by incising images onto plastic or metal plates.
Collography: Build and print from plates made from a variety of materials, including cardboard, fabrics, and found objects. Explore the tactile qualities of embossing and printing from low relief collaged plates
Solar Plate (aka Photopolymer) Etching: Use the sun or UV lamps to transfer photographic and hand-drawn images onto light-sensitive plates. Achieve an accurate copy of your original in a full range of tones with this eco-friendly and innovative method.
Lino Printing: Create a bold graphic image by cutting away areas from a sheet of lino and inking and printing the uncut areas. Print with a single colour or use the reduction method, or multiple sheets of lino to create a colour image. The printed image will appear as a mirror image of your carved block.

Amanda Averillo: Amanda is an experienced painter, printmaker, and teacher based in East Sussex, UK. Her monoprints, etchings, and watercolors draw inspiration from the Kent countryside and the East Sussex coastline. Amanda regularly exhibits her work across London and the South East and teaches monoprinting and drypoint techniques at Rye Creative Centre.
