As live music gets under way once again, we are delighted to launch a brand new concert series here at Rye Creative Centre in collaboration with Oxford Lieder – the UK’s leading promoter of classical song.
Building on a highly successful format established in 2018, stellar young singers on the brink of major careers present glorious programmes with an amazing mix of poetry set to music in a range of languages. Anna Cavaliero is one of the brightest up-and-coming soprano stars around: a former student of Barbara Bonney, with numerous prizes to her name, and a recent graduate of the prestigious opera studio at the Opéra de Lyon. She joins the pianist Sholto Kynoch, Artistic Director of the Oxford Lieder Festival, for a programme of music by the great master of song, Franz Schubert. Anna and Sholto track the seasons through Schubert's music: beginning in the joys of harvest time, revelling in the swirling autumn leaves, pausing for a reflective winter evening, and finally bursting forth with all the optimism of spring. Schubert's sublime music can equally be heard in the works for solo piano - including two of his famous 'impromptus' - that punctuate the seasons in song.
Tickets £15 (+ booking fee). Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. (Running time: 1hr - no interval. Please note there is no café facility at this time.)
We are able to offer free on-site parking for this event.
