Full Day introduction to Natural Dye Workshop Saturday 20th January 10-4pm £130

In this full day beginners workshop Tara Macdonald will introduce you to the fundamentals of natural dyeing. The use of botanical material; flowers, barks, leaves and roots to colour fabrics, is an ancient and fascinating craft. 

The workshop covers fabric preparation through scouring and mordanting; using different dye materials and the use of modifiers. You will have the opportunity to test a variety of dyes and fabrics to see some of the range of colours available. In the afternoon you will experiment with Bundle dyeing, useing fresh and dried material to make patterns on the fabric. You will create lots of samples of different fabrics and yarn as well as a silk or cotton scarf, for you to take home.
