Rye Creative Centre, in association with Bridgepoint Music and East Sussex Music are hosting a weekend of events aimed at establishing Rye’s newest venue as a cultural hub, with musical activity at its heart. The events aim to encompass a cross-section of society, and include a musical adventure based on Hansel and Gretel, string instrument taster sessions for children in primary and secondary schools; singing workshops for the whole family and a concert of the very highest quality, with a programme that will include Schubert’s String Quintet, music that the great Artur Rubinstein referred to as being a depiction of “the entrance to Heaven”.
This weekend of events also sees the launch of The Bridgepoint String Orchestras, which is starting in September as East Sussex Music’s new music centre. This venture will give children from across the region, in both Kent and Sussex, the chance to play in three levels of string ensembles.
We are grateful to Arts Council England for their support.
