Georgie Watson - Studio 104
Georgie Watson is a landscape artist based at the Rye Creative Centre and residing in Camber Sands. Her work reflects a deep passion for watersports and a close connection with nature. Inspired primarily by the East Sussex coast, Watson frequently paints and sketches on the sand dunes at Camber and the Romney Marshes, where the vast, ever-changing skies influence the direction of her new pieces.
Her plein air paintings and sketches capture fleeting colours and moments, which she then reinterprets in her studio.
Watson studied at Maidstone College of Art and initially pursued a career in photography before returning to the art world. Having a studio in Rye, surrounded by a community of talented and diverse artists, allowed her to find mentors who helped her develop her skills. Notably, artists Robert Greenhalf and Nick Archer have been significant sources of inspiration and encouragement for her.
