Flower Painting Workshop

  • Rye Creative Centre New Road England, TN31 United Kingdom (map)

An introduction to painting vibrant flowers in oils.

This 3 hr workshop is designed to build your confidence with oil paints using flowers as a starting point. The morning will include a little bit about colour theory followed by mixing your paints to see how easy it is to create many colours from just a few primaries red yellow and blue.

There will be a short demo of the wet in wet technique that Georgie uses to build up a painting and you will then be ready to start your own flower painting. Paper and a small painting board will be provided and you will be sent a list of materials that you will need for the workshop. You may already have some or all of the items listed so just bring them along.

There will be a follow up to this morning for those interested

Tickets: £45

A bit about the artist

Georgie Watson is a landscape artist working from her studio at the Rye Creative Centre and living in Camber Sands.

With the East Sussex coast as her primary source of inspiration, she often paints and sketches out on the sand dunes at Camber and the Romney Marshes where the vast ever-changing skies dictate the direction of a new piece.

The Plein air paintings and sketches allow her to capture fleeting colours and moments often leading to new interpretations in the studio.

She studied at Maidstone College of Art and followed a path into photography before returning to painting.
