Caroline Fraser

STUDIO 216C

Introduction

Caroline’s artistic career began in 2004 following recovery from cancer. Photography and book arts are her chosen way to express the fragility and beauty of life and nature.

As an outdoor photographer she uses multiple exposure and layering to create highly personal, often abstracted representations of place, mood and emotion. Recent works have included the wet cyanotype process and a project about sea shore pollution. She is a category winner in the 2024 Julia Margaret Cameron photographic awards for her abstract image of sunlight on water.

Her work explores details within the landscape, such as trees, water and objects on the sea shore, as a means to express the endless variations present in nature and the tranquillity that nature provides.

Words are an important element in her work. Caroline is a member of the Rye Harbour Writers group. Her blog “ An Ordinary Life” describes her artistic journeys and adventures.

She has published several limited edition artist books, and teaches basic book making structures for creatives. Her ‘Say it with Books’ photo book course covers all aspects of editing, design and publication, providing lots of support and access to resources along the way.
